PETALING JAYA, 15 November 2021 – Kiplepay Sdn Bhd (“Kiple”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Green Packet Berhad is continuing its commitment to empower Malaysian students with cashless solutions with the launch of KipleMall, an online marketplace accessed through the Kiple mobile application. This follows the recent introduction of its Visa Prepaid Card that provides students the opportunity to go cashless everywhere, with instant access to over 70 million merchants worldwide, both offline and online.

KipleMall, an online marketplace is a curated platform for students to shop for all their essential educational materials. Interested merchants with products and services relevant to students can come onboard KipleMall and potentially reach out to more than 280,000 students from Kiple’s existing partnerships with major local universities like UiTM, UUM, UPM, UPSI, and UTeM to name a few.

Through KipleMall, universities can also get into co-brand partnerships with the platform, utilising it as a more efficient channel to sell their products and services to students. Universities can create a co-branded platform with KipleMall, via KipleUNI Community in the Kiple app or their own e-wallet. They can then personalise the materials for their own students according to their respective establishments – for example, students from University A will be able to view more University A related student materials for their greater ease and benefit.

Besides leveraging Kiple’s wide merchant base, universities can also register as a master merchant where they will be able to curate their own set of sub merchants according to their students’ requirements. Students within the same campus can carry out online peer-to-peer selling and purchasing of products via KipleMall. For instance, senior students will be able to sell second-hand academic reference books or gadgets to junior students, all within a trusted and safe environment.

A further benefit that merchants can enjoy is a shared advertising and marketing push with Kiple, where they can have their active promotions shared on the Kiple app at no added cost to them. Merchants can leverage on Kiple’s assets to reach a wider audience and also collaborate with Kiple for further shared subsidies and promotions for their campaigns.

KipleMall as a student marketplace with access to quality educational material

KipleMall is launching the online marketplace with a strategic partnership with University Book Store Malaysia (UBSM) as the official bookstore provider and connection to a wide range of publishers. UBSM is a great source for KipleMall to provide students the access to books, e-books, learning tools, workbooks, online test papers and more for a more enriching university experience.

As an established brand and one of the oldest bookstores in Malaysia, UBSM’s main focus is to ensure that the educational materials sold on its platform are authentic and of high quality.

With UBSM playing a major role in helping publishers distribute authentic academic books to the market, this partnership allows book publishers reach out to a much larger base of student audiences, via KipleMall.

Earlier, we introduced Zakat disbursements through our e-wallet and launched the Visa Prepaid Card which allows students to go cashless everywhere. And now with KipleMall, students can shop online for educational materials seamlessly. We are excited about how this launch and partnership with UBSM will help us deliver more exciting and connected experiences for university students through our solutions,” Ricky Lew, acting CEO of Kiplepay shares.

Keith Thong, Group MD of UBSM added that this partnership is a mutually beneficial one for both Kiple and UBSM, as each party brings their own expertise to the table to help the other succeed in helping university students.

“With Malaysian students in mind, we believe that what we are doing here together with KipleMall is a definitely step in the right direction for UBSM. With our base of trusted publishers and wide range of educational materials, coupled with Kiple’s expertise in fintech to build a trusted and beneficial platform such as KipleMall, we believe that university students will benefit greatly from this partnership,” he said.

The collaboration with UBSM is just the beginning for KipleMall, as it will continue to bring in more credible merchants to offer more student essentials beyond educational materials such as electronics, fashion, home and living products, and more. Ultimately, KipleMall’s goal is to continue building its services to better cater to students.

Making cashless solutions more accessible

As part of Kiple’s commitment to providing students with greater access to cashless solutions, Kiple is running several campaigns and initiatives for them to benefit from. In conjunction with the launch of kipleMall, students can get an RM10 FREE credit into their Kiple wallet when they make a minimum purchase of RM50 via the platform.

Kiple recently launched its Back to Uni Campaign where students can get essentials at only RM1 when they spend with Kiple Visa Prepaid Card.
