PETALING JAYA, 6 December 2021 – Health tech platform Selangkah has teamed up with Kiplepay Sdn Bhd to launch the Selangkah Wallet, available through its mobile application that allows merchants and customers to enjoy contactless and cashless payments. This is in line with Selangkah’s ambition to lead the nation’s cashless journey.

In conjunction with the year-end festive season, Selangkah also partnered with creative platform RIUH as the exclusive e-wallet partner for its recent ‘RIUH Christmas Tropicola 2021’ event that took place on 4 and 5 December at Sentul Depot, Kuala Lumpur.

The first 10,000 Selangkah Wallet users were able to redeem a RM5 discount voucher for the two-day event.

Reopening the economy — safely

Initially set up as a contact-tracing application, Selangkah has since evolved to serve the public to respond better to multidimensional challenges posed by the pandemic. More than 170,000 residents have benefited from its subsidised Community Testing, while 362,000 more have been quarantined safely thanks to its Remote Quarantine Monitoring feature.

Through partnerships with the Selangor State Government and major industries, 393,000 residents and workers have been vaccinated which has led to the safe reopening of the economy.

By September 2021, 1.4 million SelangkahIDs had been issued to streamline the state government’s aid, welfare and assistance scheme distributions, while SelangkahBiz was launched following the need to lower the entry barriers for micropreneurs in Selangor to onboard the cashless economy.

As Malaysia is transitioning into a post-pandemic recovery period, Selangkah Wallet’s launch aims to close the loop between the one million consumers and merchants via contactless and cashless payments.

With more events being held to regenerate demands from consumers, Selangkah had partnered with RIUH to ensure a safer customer experience at their hallmark event after a prolonged absence due to the country’s implementation of the Movement Control Order.

Selangkah eWallet (1)

Selangkah Wallet is powered by Kiple, a subsidiary of Green Packet Bhd that provides various services such as QR payments, credit top-ups, credit transfers, mobile reloads and bill payments. It is a secure e-wallet designed to provide users with a seamless and easy-to-use payment platform for their daily needs, be it everyday items or healthcare purchases.

Selangkah Wallet is the official payment gateway for both Selcare Pharmacy and Selcare Clinic, simplifying the payment process for health product and services purchases, making it the first health-oriented wallet. Daily purchases and necessities sold at selected merchants can be paid for through the Selangkah Wallet with just a tap of the finger, hence cash contact is negated and the spread of Covid-19 is reduced.

“Selangkah is committed to providing a safe and reliable experience for consumers, and the launch of Selangkah Wallet enables us to play a new role in the contactless ecosystem while creating a more secure and effective platform for the community at large. We will keep enhancing our integrated digital platform made for the community, so stay tuned and expect more features and services to be rolled out in the coming months,” Selangkah Chief Executive Officer Tengku Iesta Tengku Alaudin said.

“As a technology leader that has been in the Malaysian fintech landscape for over two decades now, we are in a position to empower the community and make a difference with our solutions. With our proficiency in digital payments, we intend to continue our efforts to support the Malaysian community so that they can easily adjust and thrive in this digitally evolving world,” said Kiplepay Acting Chief Executive Officer Ricky Lew.

The Selangkah App is available for download for free from the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and Huawei App Gallery.
