Kuala Lumpur, 24 February, 2009 – Green Packet Berhad, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions sealed an agreement with Taiwan-based Tatung Infocomm Corporation, to enhance the connectivity capabilities of Tatung’s wireless broadband services.

The agreement will see Green Packet providing Tatung, a leading WiMAX operator on 2.5GHz frequency, with customised and enhanced edition of the Intouch Connection Manager (Intouch CM) platform. This provision will greatly improve Tatung’s ability to offer a seamless mobility, across networks over secured mobile VPN. An example of this would be a user moving from Tatung WiMAX to WiFi and back to a WiMAX coverage area, enjoying seamless connectivity without ever having to reestablish a new connection.

The enhanced Green Packet Intouch CM will also feature an embedded ‘widget tool’ which allows users to buy their favorite value-added-services (VAS), such as Live Channel, Video-On-Demand, Match Schedule & News, World Game Ticket, Music, Movies and Games from a single access point.

Speaking about the deal, Mr. Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager, Green Packet Berhad said, “End users demand the freedom to move from one location to the next without having to reconnect or switch services. Operators that can provide this uninterrupted automatic seamless switching of networks plus a host of VAS, wins the ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) battle because their consumers are happy and loyal which translates to increased usage.”

“Tatung went through a rigorous selection process to ensure the best possible partner that can give us a competitive edge. Particularly important for us were commitment to the WiMAX technology and strong corporate standing. But what tipped the scale for Green Packet was its highly customizable and flexible Intouch Connection Manager combined with its indepth understanding of our market, ” said Peter Yen, Chief Executive Officer, Tatung Infocomm Corporation.

The deal marks Green Packet’s expansion into the niche WiMAX operator market, providing carrier-grade connection management solutions.

Green Packet’s Intouch CM is an open source software that is compatible with most major devices in the market. The Intouch CM VAS Platform employs an open source software development kit (SDK) model that allows Tatung’s appointed third party service and content providers to upload VAS applications and contents to users. The initial release will be launched in conjunction with The World Games in May this year.
