1st December, 2008, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil – Green Packet, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions, will showcase its WiMAX CPE for the first time in Latin American at the WiMAX Forum Congress Latin America 2008 from 3rd – 4th December.

Green Packet, founded in the Silicon Valley and a WiMAX owner and operator in Malaysia, will showcase its field-tested WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and integrated Intouch Connection Manager, demonstrating the ease of a hands-off seamless switch from WiFi to WiMAX and vice versa.

Green Packet’s WiMAX CPE deliver best-in-class performance and quality wrapped in distinctive designs which have proven to be a hit with Telcos and consumers alike.  The complete range which includes outdoor, indoor CPE and USB dongles is Plug ‘n Play and employs remote provisioning which is very appealing to Operators.

Senior General Manager of Green Packet, Kelvin Lee said “Green Packet’s Intouch Connection Manager is also a key draw with Operators, as it resolves the constant challenge of network congestion for telecommunication and internet service providers as they can offload bandwidth intensive networks such as 3G to the next available network (WiFi) thus creating a balance in bandwidth utilisation.”

Lee also said he believes WiMAX is the perfect technology for an emerging market such as Latin America as it presents huge potential to boost revenue for Operators because the IP-based technology expands data services considerably helping Operators realise higher average revenue per user (ARPU).

“There is tremendous revenue generating opportunities for Operators to leverage on WiMAX given its high growth subscriber base paralleled to Europe and North America and its high population density.  According to the United Nations, Latin America is the most urbanized emerging world with over 75% of the region’s populace living in urbanized areas,” Lee said.

Ahead of its debut in Rio, Green Packet secured appointments with several WiMAX Operators from Central America mainly in the 3.5Ghz frequency to demonstrate it’s WiMAX CPE and capabilities.

Green Packet recently signed an agreement with Alcatel–Lucent for its comprehensive field-tested range of WiMAX CPE. Green Packet recently signed a Global agreement with Alcatel-Lucent to jointly market its comprehensive field-tested range of WiMAX CPE.
