| Building Teams Through Rhythm |
The month of November proved to be an adventurous and edifying month for employees of Green Packet and Packet One Networks, thanks to the team building event themed, ‘Building Teams Through Rhythm’.
It was held on two separate occasions on 17 and 24 November to accommodate our growing team from both companies. Held at Country View Recreation Park in Jeram Besu-Raub, Pahang, each team building session spanned three days. The event was organized by an established training consultancy organization, Center for Customer Care. |

Led by Dr Allen Teh, who was assisted by his team of professional facilitators, a variety of indoor and outdoor activities were conducted.
In the three days, the mental, emotional and physical capabilities of each employee were challenged. Indoor activities included SWOT analysis, karaoke contest and sketch presentation, while cave exploration, 4-wheel drive adventure, white water rafting and paint ball war game were the outdoor activities, all of which holds lessons on teamwork and team spirit. |

One of the more unique activities was the Drum Circle activity where employees were exposed to various percussion instruments, rhythmic clapping and drumming techniques. The essence of the activity was to get the entire group to play their instruments in harmony, which was not an easy feat at first. The fun experience was almost tribal, with everyone seating in a circle, drumming, while some of the employees were invited to jump into the middle of the circle to lead the group.
At the end of the team building, all employees were simply excited and motivated to apply their learning. The event also provided employees with the opportunity to get to know each other better so that they can work closer together as a team. Some of the participants speak of their experiences.

“The event allows me to open up and be myself. I’ve found out things about myself that I never knew earlier. During the paintball, I overcame my fears and charge forward to steal the flag. I see our colleagues become more approachable as they were more relaxed and less formal. In my team, once we broke the ice, everyone was supportive of each other.” |

“I got over my phobia of riding in the water raft. You get to know people better on a personal level, because during working hours people are more guarded. After the event, all of us seemed to have more things to talk about like shared interests. I also noticed new bonds being made.” |

“As members in teams at the team building are randomly picked, it allows people from different departments to work together. Work relations improved. When I was leading the Drum Circle, I thought that the group understood me, but sometimes they don’t due to the wrong way of signaling or my body language. Conducting in the drum circle, builds confidence.” |
