Green Packet Makes Inroads Into Indonesia
More and more avenues are opening up for Green Packet’s SONmetro, the latest being a major breakthrough in Indonesia by teaming up with PT Infoasia Teknologi Global Tbk. PT Infoasia Teknologi Global Tbk is a telco operator in Indonesia involved in Internet services, wireless communication networks, voice and data traffic trading and wholesaling, VPN provider, VoIP operator, IT products distributor, e-Commerce, networking & integration as well as satellite services.
Infoasia will be deploying SONmetro in selected residential areas in the capital city of Jakarta for the rollout of mesh wireless broadband services. The target markets are personal home users, small office home office (SOHO), internet cafes, schools, universities, corporates and malls.
“Infoasia is going to deploy city wide mesh WiFi network with mobility capability in few major cities in Indonesia . We have been talking to several other solution providers and have chosen Green Packet with their SONMetro solution. We are excited and will have our first pilot project with Green Packet ready before end of this year,” said Noviana Halim, Vice President Director of Infoasia.
Kelvin Lee, Group General Manager of Green Packet said, “Indonesia is the World’s fourth most populous after China, India and USA. With current population of close to 240 million and broadband users only made up 0.9 million in 2007, which is less than 0.4% penetration rate, the prospects are indeed immense.”
This comes as an added bonus to partnership formed with Kalaam Telecom Bahrain BSC (c) to roll out its wireless broadband network in Bahrain in July 2007.
These successes are indeed significant steps for us, opening new avenues for SONmetro to gain access into more markets globally. |
