Green Packet Wins MSC-APICTA Merit Award for SONaccess

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 September 2005 - Green Packet Berhad’s SONaccess has won the prestigious MSC-Asia Pacific ICT Awards (MSC-APICTA) Merit Award 2005. Chief Executive Officer Puan Chan Cheong received the award from Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Yang Amat Berhormat Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Hj. Mohd. Najib bin Tun Abdul Rajah at a ceremony in Penang last week.

SONaccess, one of Green Packet’s flagship solutions, enables service providers to unify different IP networks and wireless applications into a single seamless service accessible from a single customer device using a single IP address.

SONaccess enables carriers to release the potential of wireless networking and 3G applications on today’s wireless infrastructure and deliver uninterrupted high bandwidth connectivity with a single IP address over multiple mobile networks such as 3G, GPRS, CDMA2000 and WLAN.

Green Packet’s SONbuddy was the winner of MSC-APICTA Award (Communications Application Category) for 2004.

The MSC-APICTA Award is to provide recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals, students, entrepreneurs, SMEs and organizations with operations in Malaysia who have contributed to the development of the MSC initiatives or in building applications and services to the benefit of Malaysia.

"I am indeed honoured to receive this Award. Thanks to my team of dedicated engineers who are committed to continuously develop better solutions to boost ICT in the country," said Puan.

SONaccess is also in line to win another award. It is one of the finalists for the "Product of the Year " for the PIKOM-Computimes ICT Awards 2005.

Hot on the heels of these two awards, Puan is one of three finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Malaysia 2005 under the category of Technology Entrepreneur.

These awards and accolades add to the growing list of achievements by Green Packet. The company was winner of Intel’s Outstanding Solution Provider Award for Education in the Asia-Pacific in 2004. Puan was named Technoprenuer of the Year at PIKOM-Computimes ICT Awards in the same year. In 2003, Green Packet was voted "10 Mobile Technology Companies to Watch " by San Jose Mercury News.
